Time

The girls are growing up so quickly.

Hard to believe that big sis is in kindergarten already. Where does the time go? As much as I wish time would slow down, I do love the stage she is at right now. Is it like that for anyone else? Big sis is extremely helpful and thoughtful of others. She loves Jesus and has the most encouraging prayers. She prays earnestly and passionately, I am even learning a thing or two about praying from her. This has brought a whole new level of understanding to the "have faith like a child" verse for me.

Little sis is as busy as ever. She too loves to pray - at mealtime. Did I mention that she does not want anyone else to pray. She shout & yells if someone else prays and says "ME PRAY, not you pray".
Little sis fills the house with laughter. Makes me believe that God really does have a sense of humor. I have learned that a lot of things really do not matter. She is teaching me to relax and have more fun.

I also can not believe that 2011 is the year that dear hubby and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. Since having the girls the time has just flown by. I pray that God continues to strengthen us. We have a wonderful marriage, but it makes me sad to see the number of marriages ending these days.

How are you all doing?

I should be posting about Grade 5

I am taking part in a 15 week series from Mommy's Piggy Tales  This series is a way for us to record the story of out youth. I will be writing a "chapter" every Thursday.

Today I am supposed to post about grade 5. Grade 5 was a very hard year for me, yet I can not post about how hard it was for me because I am too focused on a very sad fact.

This week a family from our church is hurting. 45 years old is too young for anyone to die, especially a father of 3 who leaves these kids and his wife behind. The funeral will be on Monday.

How can I write my story when this is so real and so sad. You can see a bit more about this story here

I will fill you in more next week, but for this week I ask you to pray for this family instead of reading about me.

Fourth Grade Brings BIG changes

I am taking part in a 15 week series from Mommy's Piggy Tales  This series is a way for us to record the story of out youth. I will be writing a "chapter" every Thursday.

Fourth grade was the end of one chapter in my life.
I remember walking home on the last day of school. I was about half way home at the old wishing well when I decided to run back to the school for one last time and take a drink from the water fountain - crazy how vivid this memory is for me. I walked down the halls and looked back in my classroom - I ran my hand along the cold brick wall as I left for the last time.
You see, it was this summer that my mom was getting married and we would be moving to a new town.
I was worried about having to go to a new school and especially sad that I would be moving away from my grandma whom I was so very close too.
I remember going with my soon to be dad to the old farm house for a sleepover before the wedding. I was scared that there were going to be mice....I also remember him making me hot dogs for supper. If memory serves me right, I think I got to sleep in the bed and he took the couch!
Thanks for taking this trip down memory lane with me!

Third Grade - Recipe to remember

I am taking part in a 15 week series from Mommy's Piggy Tales  This series is a way for us to record the story of out youth. I will be writing a "chapter" every Thursday.

I had 2 teachers in grade 3 - one was a woman, the other a man. I liked them both, but truthfully was a bit afraid of the man teacher.

My best memory from grade 3 was making a class cookbook!

I remember sitting at the kitchen table thinking about my favorite recipe to contribute! It did not take me long to decide on Jumbo Raisin Cookies, but I kept erasing the picture trying to make it just perfect.

I still have this recipe book, and as I was going through it and seeing the names of classmates, I felt sad. One boy from my class had his brother commit suicide a few years ago, and this girl Janice with the Jam Jams recipe was killed in a car crash a few years ago.

Well, that's all for this week!

a special outing - second Grade

I am taking part in a 15 week series from Mommy's Piggy Tales  This series is a way for us to record the story of out youth. I will be writing a "chapter" every Thursday.

Grade 2

This post is scheduled because right now I am on vacation in FLORIDA (big deal for this Canadian girl!)
I am telling you this because it is what made me think about what I could write for today's post!
As you know from previous posts, my mom was very young. We did not have the opportunity to do many special trips or outings because the money was just not there for those luxuries. It was a very special occasion  if we even got to go out for breakfast at McDonalds, but I never felt as though I was missing out...how could I? This is all I knew and I was happy!
I do remember one time when I was 7 years old though that my mom decided to take me swimming - this was such a big deal! We drove to an indoor pool about an hour from where we lived. I remember being a bit afraid, but I also remember thinking my mom was magical because she could do a hand stand under the water! How cool is that :) -----------I've since learned that this is not so magical after all LOL, but I still remember that we had a wonderful day!
Since today is Canada Day I just have to say "Happy Canada Day" to all my fellow Canadians! I did enjoying watching Canada day parades with my mom and grandparents every year, so that was special too!

First Grade

I am taking part in a 15 week series from Mommy's Piggy Tales  This series is a way for us to record the story of out youth. I will be writing a "chapter" every Thursday.

First Grade

I loved first grade. (Besides the fact that I had a bowl type hair cut and HUGE blue framed glasses!)

Ever have that teacher that makes such a difference in your life?

Mrs. Lewis was a kind teacher. Like I have told you before, I was a very quiet girl. Mrs. Lewis always took time each day to come by and put her warm hand on my shoulder.
I loved that she did not ever make me feel bad for being quiet or not talking in class.

Mrs. Lewis was a grade one teacher for about 20 years. I'm sure she was a blessing to many children and most likely does not know how much she meant to so many kids!

Preschool/Kindergarten

I am taking part in a 15 week series from Mommy's Piggy Tales  This series is a way for us to record the story of out youth. I will be writing a "chapter" every Thursday.

Preschool / Kindergarten Years

It was during these years that my mom and I got our own place to live - a place I would call home for most of my elementary years!

I searched high and low for a photo to share with you of me on my first day of Kindergarten, but my mom has all my pictures from my childhood. I will try to get a bunch of them scanned so I can add some later!

I never did go to preschool but I was in daycare. I remember liking daycare - one home daycare stands out in my mind. I remember being able to watch "Mr. Dress-Up" or "Sesame Street" while the lady made lunch for us. I especially loved her grilled cheese sandwiches!
One of my favorite memories of kindergarten was having my mom drop me off at school. I loved the short little drive or the times we walked together!

I loved going to kindergarten and even though I was the quietest girl in the class, i loved being there!

Do you all have more memories from these years? If I ever think of another memory I'll be sure to add it in! Isn't that the great thing about blogging about your memories...you can always add to them!
